Jeff Cooper uncovers Dr. Seuss's thoughts on blog(g)s

Daniel Davies on econometricians' dirty little secret. For what it's worth, political scientists are even worse at this stuff. I remember minatory admonitions against stepwise regression when I went to stats boot-camp in Ann Arbor, but not much else. The money quote is when Davies asks you to picture yourself as an econ grad student in the computer lab, "mindlessly pressing the button on SPSS over and over again, looking at the goodness-of-fit statistics and trying to ignore your undeniable and growing resemblance to the rodent half of one of BF Skinner's operant conditioning experiments. " Permalinks are bloggered, of course, but given Mr. Davies' recent infrequency of posting, it won't be going away anytime soon.

And Amitai Etzioni telling us about how he was asked to spy for the Commies (apparently it was really the US authorities, testing his loyalty).

Finally, William Sjostrom takes his life into his hands by dissing Barry's Tea. In Cork. You have to be Irish fully to appreciate how brave he's being. Speaking truth to power, how are ya.
