One of Gallowglass's more humble roles is to serve as alternate butt and inspiration of others' humour. The very first link to Gallowglass's ancestor-blog was a pun, from Kieran Healy, God bless him, who declared "Et In Canada Alter Ego" (Kieran and I have had rather similar academic careers). Rather a good one; as Patrick Neilsen Hayden declared, "It's not every day the universe hands you the opportunity for a pun as awesome as the headline on this post." This pun has now, officially, been topped by John Holbo's response to Maria's recent entry, which discusses the Spanish government's efforts to impose a draconian air travel regime. Holbo sums this development up in one pithy phrase, "the reign in Spain falls mainly on the plane." Try to beat that one.
