Get them while they're young

Via the Washington Post comes this new Business Software Alliance initiative, enlisting an as-yet-anonymous ferret to tell kids that Copyright is Good, and Piracy is Bad. The BSA "Play It Cybersafe" site is unintentionally hilarious, with stupid Flash games ("Stop the pirates from freezing the city! Throw your ball into the pirates and their stolen software before they hit the ground"), downloadable posters, and other electronic kitsch. If this is the best that the content guys can do, it's no wonder that they're in trouble.

Update: in related news, Ed Felten, who knows what he's talking about, reckons that record company threats to release malicious code onto peer-to-peer networks aren't much more than wishful thinking.

Maybe if they used Joe Camel—he is apparently incredibly effective, and I understand he isn’t busy.
